The 2010 Mercedes-Benz GLK is one new vehicle that is creating a buzz in the luxury auto industry. The small crossover vehicle combines the convenience and versatility of a sport utility vehicle with the cost-efficiency of a small car. The reviewers at The Oregonian took the GLK350 for a weeklong test. Here are some of the facts and highlights from that review.
• The GLK350 is the fourth SUV released by Mercedes-Benz and it is also the smallest one.
• These compact crossovers share the same platform on which the Mercedes C-Class sedans are manufactured.
• The 2010 GLK350 arrived on the lots of Mercedes-Benz dealers in January. The starting price is around $37,000 for the all-wheel-drive version. The rear-wheel-drive version starts at less than $35,000.
• Both versions of the GLK350 have 268 horsepower under the hood with a V6 engine and 258 ft-lbs. of torque. The transmission is a seven-speed automatic and it can go from zero to 60 in less than seven seconds.
• The GLK has “more agile handling than one might expect, due to its sophisticated four-wheel independent suspension.”
