Warranty Extended for GM and Buick Used Cars

If you visit your local Buick dealer today and buy one of the many quality Buick used cars in the inventory, there’s good news for you. General Motors, the parent company of Buick, recently announced that it was extending its used vehicle warranties. Instead of the current warranties you receive on certified Buick used cars, you now have a 12 month/12,000 mile “bumper to bumper” warranty on the vehicles you buy after September 13.

The previous warranty on GM and Buick used cars only covered the car for three months or 3,000 miles, whichever came first.

In a recent statement, GM said the new warranty essentially “covers the vehicle from bumper to bumper on any vehicle defect related to materials or workmanship, including all but standard wear-and-tear components on the vehicle.” The body and other sheet metal components also carry a warranty against rusting and corrosion for six years or 100,000 miles.

This is exciting news if you’ve been concerned about buying Buick used cars. If anything is going to go wrong, it’s likely going to happen within the first year or 12,000 miles. The peace of mind that a warranty like this gives to car buyers is simply priceless.
