• Speak with a raspy voice all day long, almost like you’ve been gargling with broken glass all morning.
• Learn the lingo and use it. Some words that pirates use in everyday language include “beauty” (when addressing a beautiful lady), “avast” (Wow! Check that out!), and “grog” (an alcoholic drink other than beer).
• If someone refers to you as a “lubber” today, it’s not necessarily an insult. In “pirate speak,” it actually means “land lover,” or a person that does not like going out on the sea.
