PA dealers and other businesses are looking forward to shedding some light on the city’s crime…literally. The Streets Department is installing the first of more than 1,000 new street lights throughout Philadelphia’s high-crime areas to help deter criminals and thieves from their typical outlaw activities when the sun goes down.
PA dealers are happy about the new lights because they will help keep vandals out of the car lots when everybody has gone home for the night.
In the past month, more than 80 new lights have gone up in two of the most crime-ridden districts. The project that includes more than 1,000 of these lights won’t be completed until next summer.
In addition to fighting crime, the City Managing Director also hopes the new lights will bring more people outdoors at night. By shedding light on some of the neighborhoods, residents may feel more secure on their own front porches than they do now.
Your PA dealers and your local Buick dealer in Philadelphia care about your safety and well-being. Do you think the new lights will be a deterrent to crime? Or are they just a waste of time? Leave your comments below and let us know your thoughts.
