The new headlight system is going to be ideal for people who do a lot of their driving at night along back roads and side streets. The feature adjusts the amount of light output to “maximize visibility for the Mercedes driver and also oncoming traffic,” according to AutomobileMag.com.
With the new feature, the driver does not need to switch between high and low beams because the system does it all for you. It does this through a small camera mounted in the rearview mirror that monitors the headlights of oncoming vehicles and tail lights of cars in front of your to regulate the amount of let it puts out. The system also adjusts the aim for a more focused beam.
Another thing the system does is aims the lights down toward the road as oncoming cars approach. Once the cars have passed by, the headlights aim back up for maximum visibility.
