1926 – Buick began producing more than 260,000 cars each year.

1939 – Buick releases a car that uses the very first rear turn signal flashers. Unfortunately, people have forgotten how to use them in the last 50 years.

1942 – The “toothy grill” that has become synonymous with Buick cars was introduced, but it became even more popular during the postwar era.

1948 – The Buick Roadmaster becomes the first car to have a torque converter automatic transmission.

1951 – The Buick LeSabre makes its debut as a concept car.

1959 – The Buick logo, also known as the Trishield, was adopted in time to mount on the 1960 lineup. Each shield was supposed to represent each model of the lineup that year, including the Invicta, LeSabre and Electra.

1983 and 1984 – Buick breaks worldwide sales records with more than one million sales.

1985 – Buick-powered cars won the second qualifying spot for the Indianapolis 500.

2000 – The Buick LaCrosse makes its debut as a concept car. It goes into production soon after.

2004 – Buick lets go of the Oldsmobile brand.

And the rest, as they say, is history. Now that you may have a new appreciation for this automobile brand, why not visit your local Buick dealer and take one for a drive today?

A Brief Timeline of the Buick Automotive Company, Part 1

You can find Buick used cars at nearly any GMC dealer in your area. Buick used cars are great investments because the automaker makes great products that last for a long time. But how did today’s Buick used cars get to be where they are today? Here is a brief timeline of the Flint-based automaker with some of the more important years of its development.

1902 – David Dunbar Buick began the Buick Motor Car Company in Detroit.

1904 – William Crapo Durant took over the company as David Buick was having financial troubles.

1908 – Durant incorporated the General Motors Corporation into the brand.

1911 – Buick offers the first car with a closed-body.

1926 – The Buick Master Six hits the market. It featured “four drum brakes, a three-sped transmission and a switch on the steering wheel to dim the lights at night.”

1929 – Buick launches the Marquette. This was designed to “bridge the price gap” between the Buick brand and the Oldsmobile brand. Production of the Marquette only lasted for a year.

1936 – The Buick Century hits the market as one of the automaker’s sportier models. It could reach speeds of 100 miles per hour. That was quite a feat back in those days.

1949 – The Riviera was introduced into the Buick lineup. This was a hardtop coupe.

PA Used Car Dealers Offer Tips on Car Maintenance Prices

At your local PA used car dealers, we are always looking out for your best interests. In today’s post, we’re going to tell you why prices at some repair shops can fluctuate so much. This is helpful because after reading this, you may look at your repair bill more closely and find some ways to save money where you were overcharged.

First of all, auto maintenance is of utmost importance to keeping your car running in tip-top shape. You should always follow your manufacturer’s guidelines for oil changes, tune-ups and any other preventative maintenance procedures your car needs. But you don’t always have to be charged an outrageous amount for these services.

One thing that could make your repair bill skyrocket is a large bill to begin with. Some repair shops may think it’s nothing to add on an extra $100 or $200 for “parts and labor” if you’re already paying $1500 or more for your repairs. The busy person who needs their car might just look at the bottom line and go with it.

The amount of business that any given repair shop is receiving at the time might also affect the bill. If business is slow, they may need to charge the few customers a bit more in order to cover their costs. Look for this fee listed on your bill as a “service fee” or some other similar name.

We’ll be bringing you more tips for dealing with service repair costs in the future. In the meantime, visit a local Mercedes-Benz dealer and consider a new or certified used Mercedes. With the extensive warranties, you won’t have to worry about problems like this.

Reviewing the Mercedes 2009 SL Class at Your Pennsylvania Auto Dealers

If you haven’t driven the 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL Class yet, there’s no better time than the present to stop by you Pennsylvania auto dealers and give one a try. You simply haven’t experienced everything the German automaker has to offer until you’ve driven one of these spectacular vehicles.

For more than five decades, the MB SL-Class has been the epitome of style and luxury in the automotive industry. It’s typically the vehicle people buy once they become successful because of its status. Its smooth-running engine has more than 380 horsepower and bolts down the road with no problem at all. The seven-speed automatic transmission and V8 engine keeps the car shifting smoothly and quietly for a luxurious ride.

The driver can also choose between three modes on the transmission – Comfort, Sport and Manual. With the Comfort mode, the car has better fuel economy because of the slow reactions to “throttle input.” The Sport mode creates better shifting between gears to get up to your desired speed. Or you can choose the Manual mode and switch to a manual transmission in a matter of seconds.

If you’ve got $125,000 to spare, why not visit your local Mercedes-Benz dealer and get the 2009 SL-Class? Once you take it for a drive, you won’t be able to enjoy anything else.

PA Dealers and Car Owners Salute Buick

Your PA dealers want to bring your attention to a recent article about the love that many people have for Buick vehicles. This particular story is about a man in South Hutchinson, Kansas, who watched how his dad took care of old Buick cars like they were his baby.

Terry Weigand watched as his dad fixed and restored a beautiful 1916 Buick touring car in 1963. As he watched, he had a moment that clicked. All of a sudden, he became a “car guy.” He enjoyed working on the 1916 Buick with his father. As a result, his father passed it down to him. He still owns the car to this day, but he also owns several other Buicks – one from 1922 and another from 1920.

“I’m a purist. I like them to be original,” Weigand said. His 1920 Buick has fewer than 5,000 miles on it. Before he purchased it, it sat in the basement of the Buick dealer for more than six decades because someone ordered it and died before delivery. Weigand still has all of the original documents on the vehicle as well as the original paint job. Because of his old and original Buicks, General Motors recently invited him and his wife to celebrate the automaker’s 100th anniversary in Flint, Michigan.

See what you can do with some patience and some TLC?

Mercedes-Benz Dealers Congratulate the C63 AMG

In yet another instance in which Mercedes-Benz shows its superiority over other brands, the 2009 C63 AMG recently won another award. This time, it won the CNET Editor’s Choice award which recognizes “outstanding consumer electronics choices for quality, performance, design, service [and] value.” The editors typically choose a car that is the best value for the price a consumer pays.

When a car wins the CNET Editor’s Choice award, you can bet that the winning automobile is one of the top products in their respective category. But the winners must also “change the competitive landscape of its market, whether through innovative features, exceptional value for the price, remarkable ease of use, or a demonstrable boost to the lives of its users.”

The 2009 C63 AMG does just that. With more than 450 horsepower and an optional COMAND control system, this vehicle is one of the best new luxury cars on the market. One editor associated with choosing the award-winning cars cited the COMAND interface as the main reason for his decision. This navigation is state-of-the-art in that it stores maps and data on an in-dash hard drive. It also has space so you can store your favorite music and have it there at the reach of your fingertips.
The C63 AMG has so much more, too. Visit a local Mercedes-Benz dealer today and see why it wins all kinds of awards.

Talk Like a Pirate Today at Your Buick Auto Dealers

If you visit your local Buick auto dealers today, have a little fun by talking like a pirate. Today is National Talk Like a Pirate Day and with the popularity of pirates in recent years, you might notice some people celebrating it in full effect. Here are some things to keep in mind to talk like a pirate and understand others who do:

• Use the word “Ahoy!” when somebody approaches you.
• Enthusiastically say “Arrr!” when something makes you happy or when you agree with someone wholeheartedly.
• Speak with a raspy voice all day long, almost like you’ve been gargling with broken glass all morning.
• Learn the lingo and use it. Some words that pirates use in everyday language include “beauty” (when addressing a beautiful lady), “avast” (Wow! Check that out!), and “grog” (an alcoholic drink other than beer).
• If someone refers to you as a “lubber” today, it’s not necessarily an insult. In “pirate speak,” it actually means “land lover,” or a person that does not like going out on the sea.

Give it a try and see how much fun it can be. Your local Buick dealer might even join in if they know what you’re doing. For more information, visit this website that tells you more about the day, why we celebrate it and some other pirate-related games.
